Easily one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in! I booked for one night and ended up staying for 3 weeks. Takuro, Miyako, Emily and a host of mighty international staff headed by the sweetest chef Louis make for an incredibly welcoming experience. The hostel's warm vibe brings people together in its spacious common room easily, and its great location makes hopping on a train to soak up Osaka's nightlife easy peasy. The location is very interesting too! The dorms are spacious and very private, with great AC.

Wildly social space. Arriving in japan on my first solo trip there was a bit of melancholy in the air, being in a foreign country with a bit of jet lag. However After two nights in this hostel i began to warm up and meet people, which snowballed into building a big international group of friends that i could go out and do things with, we made connections so strong that we met back up in different cities throughout our trips. Facilities are great you have a kitchen, clean bathrooms, and showers being on the top floor was nice! Location is interesting, at night there are lots of little old folks walking around (i figure its where the district is sat) but there's a sauna next door, laundry in the hostel and one next door, your right next to tsutenkaku tower, tennoji zoo, spa world, and you're close to the metro which leads right to dotonbori street and kuromon market. I would recommend this space for your first stop as it can warm you up to Japan

This is my second time staying here! I came to Osaka this time to visit the Expo. As always, the staff were super friendly and helpful, and they gave me great travel advice about Osaka. After I got back from the Expo, I joined a group chat and went out with other guests. It was really fun having genuine international conversations with people from all over the world. On top of that, the mattress seems to have been replaced and felt even more comfortable than last time. Overall, I highly recommend staying here. You can make great friends and unforgettable memories!

I stayed in 4 different hostels throughout my time in Japan and this one was the most social by far. It had similar vibes to hostels in SE Asia, which was a nice change from the quite/more relaxing vibes of the other hostels I'd stayed at in Japan. The staff were very helpful and were great at organising events for guests so that there was pretty much something happening every night/evening. The wifi was strong and the AC worked well (great for the intense heat of summer in Osaka). The hostel was walking distance to multiple metro stations so it was easy to get around and explore Osaka.

I had a great time at R Hostel Namba South in Osaka. The common area is big and cozy, perfect for eating or relaxing. There’s a small kitchen with everything you need to cook—like a microwave, fridge etc. The staff are super friendly and always ready to help. I also met other travelers there, which made the stay more fun :D The location is great, just a short walk to the train station and not far from Shinsekai. Everything was clean and comfortable, and I really liked the warm, social atmosphere. I would definitely stay here again :D

Nice old style hostel with sweet staff. I got in after a busy day at Osaka Sound Messe and had nice conversations with fellow travelers. Felt like being 20s again. :-) I booked the dormitory, but got upgraded into a single room. This is superb, I am claustrophobic though and had trouble with the massive old doors in rooms, toilets and shower, making me feel trapped, but this is nothing a regular person would see as negative. Absolutely awesome was the staircase! I cannot book regular hotel rooms, cause they often have the elevator-only policy. Next year I will probably come again!

The vibes here are simply amazing. I made so many friends among the patrons and the staff was also very friendly. Honestly one of the most social hostels I've ever stayed in, and not just in a party sense. There were plenty of people there to party but also lots of interesting people to talk to and find friends to explore the surrounding areas with. It was mostly foreigners though, in case that is a factor for anyone. The staff was a mix of foreigners and Japanese. They were very friendly and helpful if you needed anything. They were also very connected into the local expat community and I got to tag along to some smaller community things on top of the bigger hostel-organized events. It was nice to feel included in a community even if it wasn't necessarily the native Japanese community. There were hangouts all the time and one night they even taught us how to make gyoza and we made a ton right there in the hostel. The owner is Japanese and was around all the time helping lead events and outings, and just hanging around. He helped me order something off Amazon with his Prime account when I needed it fast. The beds were basic but comfortable. I was impressed that I never felt anyone else moving around in their beds or anything. They have a small kitchen where you can cook your own meals, and even a rice cooker. The location is very close to a convenience store, a supermarket, various restaurants, multiple subway stations, a Mega Don Quijote, and more. The actual street it's on is kind of run down but that probably contributes to how cheap it is. It's also a 35-ish minute walk from Dotonbori so walking home from the bars/clubs there is totally feasible if you're out late after the metro has stopped and you don't want to pay for a taxi.

The first and best hostel I stayed at on my trip to Japan. Absolutely amazing vibe amongst the guests in the cozy common room, events on the weekends, terrific staff, a great location in a more genuine feeling part of town, and super cheap. Incredibly social.

The staff are all super sweet and helpful. One of the receptionists made me some tea when she saw I was sitting in the corner looking miserable. It's also very social and you'll have no problem meeting people and setting plans for things to do in the area. Bonus points for being *walkable* from Dotonbori (35-40mins) in case you miss the last train which I frequently do.
